10 Easy Resolutions For Healthy Hair In 2024

2023 is over and what a year it’s been! So with this in mind, we thought we'd round up some easy to follow hair resolutions to help guarantee you have the best hair all year around in 2024!

Start with A Healthy Hair Routine

A good hair routine will incorporate healthy hair practices and help you reach your hair goals. This year, why not figure out what works and doesn't work for you — especially if you are newly natural. You can learn more by checking out our ultimate afro hair care guide.

Take Care of Your Scalp

Did you know that your scalp health affects your hair growth? Your hair can’t thrive if your scalp isn’t happy, which is why it’s so important to properly cleanse your scalp and also think about using a scalp oil to help compensate for the sebum lost while shampooing.

Go Vegan

Whether or not you decide to give Veganuary a try foodwise, why not try to go vegan with your hair and beauty products? And the good news is that all of Afrocenchix’s products are vegan-friendly so you don’t worry about your hair products.

Editor’s tip: Not sure how to tell if your other beauty products are vegan? Check out our simple guide for more information.

Take a Break From Heat

Dodge heat damage in 2024 and give up heat. When drying your hair try a microfibre towel, which can help you shave time off of your wash day. It also helps reduce friction (so less frizz and breakage). You can secure your hair in a turban with our microfibre towel and go about doing other things. Trust us, this year is all about going heatless!

Get Moving!

Did you know that working up a sweat can increase blood flow and help your hair to grow?

Carve Out Some ‘Me Time’

New yeah hair resolutions: Happy smiling black woman with short hair

The stress hormone cortisol negatively impacts hair growth and can even lead to excess hair shedding leading to thin hair with bald patches.

Try giving yourself some TLC by having a bath, watching a film with your loved ones or going on a walk in the countryside. The less stressed you are, the better you’ll feel and the better your hair will grow.

‘Marie Kondo’ Your Hair Accessories

It’s time to avoid damaging our hair at all costs!  Poor accessories, combs and other hair tools can easily cause breakage. Instead use your fingers to comb or detangle your hair.  Then say goodbye to hairbands and ties that aren’t hair-friendly AKA accessories with metal and plastic fastenings or pins with uncoated tips.

Editor's tip: Afrocenchix has launched a new Eco friendly Hairbrush and Wide tooth comb which is an essential piece of kit for your hair! We also have a great Essential Accessories Pack, so you can rest at ease because they are friendly for afro/curly hair – and in fact for all hair types!

Clean Up Your Diet

Make sure your diet is balanced and that you're getting all the vitamins and protein-rich foods. Not only is this great for your overall health but this will help support healthy and strong hair growth.

Drink More Water

Love coffee and fizzy drinks? We know it’s easy to reach for these drinks but drink them all the time can lead to dehydration. So for every caffeinated beverage you drink aim to have a couple glasses of water to rehydrate and help with healthy hair growth and moisture.

Calm Down on Chemicals

Did you know that chemical straighteners such as relaxers and perms are filled with toxic chemicals? Yes, really!

Give your hair a fresh start by giving up the creamy crack and transitioning in 2024.
